From a single shelf of borrowed drills to 4,200 loans and a full workshop calendar, here is what two years of lending tools has taught us.

Two years in numbers

The Tool Library began with one shelf and a donated drill. It now holds more than 600 tools and lends about 40 a week.

The most borrowed items are ladders, sewing machines and paint-stripping kits, with bike pumps close behind.

The chair that started it all

The workshop’s first project was a beginner carpentry class that built a simple wooden chair. Fourteen of those chairs now sit in neighbours’ kitchens, and a new class starts every term.
